Leadership Development Training at Impact Fire

Employees have choices in the job marketplace. Talented individuals choose companies for their culture, work-life balance, support initiatives, and growth pathways.

At Impact Fire, we value the people we employ beyond their talents related to fire protection. Employing a diverse group of individuals has led us to focus on leadership development and training to promote workforce well-being and sustained job satisfaction.

Investing creatively and meaningfully in our employees is how we believe retention, employee satisfaction, and job productivity and performance thrive. Let’s review the industry-leading ways in which Impact Fire supports its workforce.

Why Leadership Development Matters

One of the biggest drivers of job satisfaction, or lack thereof, is someone’s direct manager. Eighty-two percent of Americans cited that they would consider leaving their job because of poor management. That’s why we believe strong leadership training is critical as we grow.

We focus on:

  • Identifying and addressing skill gaps to improve overall manager effectiveness.
  • Dedicated sessions to put our managers in the best environment for learning and developing, like face-to-face interactions and focused executive meetings.
  • Engaging in critical conversations to enhance supervisors' skills to champion employee growth.
  • Effective hiring and onboarding aid in employee success.
  • Culture, development, and industry differentiation.

The Makings of a Great Leader

At Impact Fire, we like to give our employees the opportunity to build meaningful career paths. Often, that means promoting from within the organization.

However, the skills needed to be a fantastic fire protection professional are often different from those needed to make an inspiring leader. Our development programs aim to help future leaders hone their skills and champion successful teams.

To do that, we focus on developing traits like emotional intelligence, creating psychological safety, actively listening to team members, and thinking strategically to drive change.

Leadership in Practice: Hiring

Hiring well is a skill that every efficient leader shares. A great hire can invigorate the team, improve retention, and help the company grow.

We want to empower our leaders to build bustling teams, and a big part of that lies in the hiring process. Our training helps leaders:

  • Review applications
  • Lead a productive interview
  • Make a strong hire
  • Create a clear, scalable onboarding plan
  • Identify mentorship, community, and networking opportunities for new hires

Mentorship Program Development

Impact Fire is implementing a mentorship program to support and guide new leaders. The goal is to encourage ongoing mentorship to uphold career development and success.

As new employees enter their workforce, the Mentorship program seeks to provide a support person to answer questions and help new hires navigate the complexities of the organization—benefits, assistance programs, development opportunities, skill enhancement, etc.

By building out supported career paths, our mentorship program seeks to walk with employees as they grow and develop within the organization over the long term.

The Future of Impact Fire Leadership

Strong leadership doesn’t happen overnight. Investing the right resources in our leader’s development will strengthen the fabric of our company and continue to make Impact Fire a great place to work.
